  7. With ICS you can make your scans look like from the professionals.
  8. By  using  ICS  scan  quality  is  DRAMATICLY(!)  improved without
  9. requiring the user to manualy adjust scan colors while scanning.
  10.  
  11. This is the first release of ICS after nearly two years development.
  12. Support for ICC Profiles and more type of devices (printers,...)
  13. is planned for the next major release.
  14.  
  15. ICS already is directly supported by ScanQuix, ScanTrax and
  16. ImageFX.  Other scanner drivers authors will soon add direct ICS
  17. support to their scanner drivers.  But ICS can also work
  18. independent of any specific scanner software using a stand-alone
  19. image file converter.
  20.  
  21. ICS does work in 3 steps:
  22.  
  23.  - You do scan a calibration target with your scanner software
  24.    and use the incl. ScanTarget programm to create a profile
  25.    for your scanner.
  26.  
  27.  - You do select your monitor or standard (PAL, sRGB, NTSC,...)
  28.    you want to color correct the scan for.
  29.  
  30.  - Now all scans with your scanner software will be color corrected
  31.    automaticly.

  33. It's as easy as that...
  34.  
  35. ICS  supports  standard IT 8.7 (ISO 12641) from Kodak, Agfa, Fuji,
  36. CorelDraw/PhotoPaint and "Epson Color Reference Chart" calibration
  37. targets.

  45. Changes since V1.09:
  46.  
  47. - Minor bug: An error requester was missing in ScanTarget in
  48.              case memory allocation failed to target color array.
  49.              The program simply failed without an error prompt.
  50. - Changed:   Developers: "extern struct Library *ICSBase;" added to
  51.              proto/irw.h include file.
  52. - Minor bug: Fixed reading PCX files with 8 Bits per pixel with
  53.              more than 1 plane.
  54. - Minor bug: Reading of DCX files did not work. Fixed.
  55. - Minor bug: BMP 4 Bit RLE compression did not work correctly
  56.              and caused error requester. Fixed.
  57. - Minor bug: Reading of PNG grayscale with alpha channel files
  58.              did not work. Fixed.
  59. - Added:     BMP 32 Bit support added.
  60. - Added:     PPM/PGM P5/P6 comments and white space values
  61.              are skipped while reading header.
  62.              (PS: Full support will be added with the upcoming
  63.              IRW library support shortly - IRW is in beta test)
  64. - Minor bug: assert() debug calls disabled in TIFF source.
  65. - Minor bug: Unknown TIFF compression schemes may be prompted
  66.              to the user. The TIFF routines may continue
  67.              loading faulty data despite the error message
  68.              (bug in libtiff). Fixed.
  69. - Minor bug: TIFF 16 Bit continious plane images may not load correctly
  70.              under low memory conditions.
  71.              (PS: Improved TIFF support will be added with the upcoming
  72.              IRW library support shortly - IRW is in beta test)
  73. - Changed:   removed SAS/C __chkabort() function
  74.              from ICS library in order to make sure
  75.              that really no CTRL-C handling is done
  76.              by the library itself.
  77. - Added:     Iiyama Monitor Profiles added.
